What is North Natomas Little League?
North Natomas Little League
(NNLL) is a grass-roots organization formed by local parents and chartered by Little League Baseball (league ID 00173329) in 2004. The first season of play was in the spring of 2005. Our Board of Directors continues to be comprised of parents, like you, who want their children to be affiliated with a league that teaches teamwork and good sportsmanship, as well as the fundamentals of baseball and softball.

When does the season begin and what commitment will I be required to make?
Teams will be able to start practices on following the draft. Teams will practice 2 or 3 times per week, usually 1 or 2 weekday practices and 1 weekend practice. Following Opening Day, each team will typically play 1-2 games per week (1 weekday and 1 weekend). Most teams will continue to practice once per week in addition to games. The final regular-season games will be held the first week of June. Our annual end-of-season picnic will be held around the beginning of June. The Minor, Major, Junior, Senior, and Big League All-Star teams will resume practice in mid-June and play around 4 July.

Where will games and practices be held?
Games and practices will be held at local city parks and schools, including Regency Park, Autumn Meadow Park, North Natomas Community Park, Westlake Park, Perrigren Park, Two Rivers Park, Orchard Park, and Inderkum HS. We will continue to find additional practice and game locations. All locations are subject to change.  Teams may ONLY practice and play at assigned fields for insurance purposes.

What does the registration fee include and what equipment will I need to get for my child?
The registration fee includes a built-in fundraiser of fireworks coupons. These coupons can be redeemed at our fireworks stand this summer or sold to recoup your investment. The rest of the registration fee is applied toward team equipment (batter’s helmets, catcher’s gear, bats, balls, tees, etc.), field reservation fees, field maintenance, insurance, charter fees, and player uniforms, among other expenses. The uniforms will include a hat, shirt, and socks. You are responsible for the pants and belt (baseball), shorts (softball), glove, and cleats. Although not required, many families will purchase a helmet, bat, and batter's glove at their own expense.

Can I request a certain coach or teammate?
We will do our best to honor team requests for Mites Tee Ball and Tee Ball only (league age 4-6). Please indicate the name of the coach or other player on the registration form. Please understand we will not be able to honor every request and there is no guarantee. For all other divisions (league age 7 and older), Little League requires a player draft to distribute the more talented and experienced players evenly among the teams.

The practice of "red shirting" is to withold preferred players to build the ultimate team.  It is strictly forbidden, can result in cancellation of our Little League Charter, and will result in suspension from NNLL.

Can I request a certain division or decline when my child is "pulled up" during the season?
No.  The player draft results in a natural selection of the player into the appropriate division.  Also, when a team in a higher division loses players, it is the manager's right to pull up a player from a lower division.  This practice is strictly managed by the appropriate player agent.  Failure to accept this honor results in termation from the league for the remainder of the year.

Do you offer discounts to siblings, managers, coaches, team parents, or umpires?
There is a discount of $10 for each sibling registered after the first (the first pays full registration). As of the date of this FAQ, all other discounts, if any, have not yet been determined.

What are the responsibilities of managers, coaches, and team parents?
A manager (head coach) is the person who coordinates all team practices and games and is responsible for the team equipment and ensure all players and coaches abide by the rules of the game. They should also be the first contact for parents for any issues that may arise during the season and communicate those issues to the Division Commissioner. Managers select their coaches, score keeper, and team parents.

Coaches assist the manager with practices and games. Each team is allowed only two “official” coaches in addition to the manager, however, all other parents who wish to participate in games or practices are encouraged to do so.
The team parent is the person in charge of communicating information to the team. This includes practice and game schedules, snack schedules, and any other pertinent league information. The team parent is also responsible for the creation of a team banner (not required), as well as maintaining the team and sponsor banners. It is crucial to have a team parent assume responsibility of these tasks in order to allow the manager and coaches to focus on training the players.

IMPORTANT:
All managers, coaches, team parents, umpires, and other volunteers with direct contact with the players MUST submit a volunteer application with a clear copy of photo ID to the Board of Directors.

What are the duties of a Division Commissioner?
Division Commissioners are the liaison between the Board of Directors and team managers. They provide the managers and team parents with information that is to be distributed to the parents of each team. They also coordinate practice and game schedules for that division. Commissioners are welcome to attend board meetings, but it is not mandatory. If you are interested in becoming a board member next season, this is the perfect opportunity to become familiar with the workings of the league. If you are interested, please send a message to your respective VP or the President.

I
f I have an issue, who should I contact to resolve it?
NNLL is operated by volunteers so it is critically important to solve issues at the lowest level possible.  The BOD literally doesn't have the time to address all of the issues from every family.  Parents should always take issues to their team's manager.  If the issue involves the manager, you may elevate the issue to a commissioner.  It is never appropriate to "jump the chain of command".  Volunteers are empowered to solve issues within their scope.

Interested in becoming a field maintenance volunteer?
Field maintenance duties include fertilizing and mowing the fields, edging the infield and baselines, raking the infields and baselines, picking up trash, maintaining pitching mound dimensions, and reporting over-watering or under-watering of the turf. These items must be performed on a weekly basis. If you are interested, please send a message to the Director of Fields.

When will I be notified of my child’s team assignment?
The player draft will be conducted on a Sunday in mid Feb. Managers will be asked to contact players within 7 days of the draft. If you have not received communication from your manager by this date, please send a message to your respective player agent.

I am a vendor interested in soliciting NNLL.  How do I approach NNLL?
All vendors are asked to attend the Vendor Show to receive maximum exposure to NNLL BOD members.  Our very limited volunteer time does not permit vendors to solicit at BOD meetings.  Thank you for respecting our time.  Please follow the links pages to contact D6 for more information.
